Bed Time

Both Miller and Colby are pretty good sleepers, and they are definitely both creatures of habit.

Colby must have things a certain way before going to bed. There must be a pillow wedged against the wall at his head for him to sleep against. (this is because he was used to having his head rammed up against the crib bumper for so long)

Everything in his room must be in order, and nothing can be out of place, on a table, or on the floor. There MUST be a headlamp, a tissue, and a spare ducky, which he calls "Nan's ducky", on the top ledge of his bed.

The ledge...

Both of his duckies are interchangeable and equally worn, but he thinks that one is the real ducky and one is an imposter. He calls the supposed imposter "Nan's Ducky" because one time at her house, we washed him, and he came home with a very strong detergent odor. Now, before bed, he will take a big whiff of both duckies to determine which one is the real one and which is the imposter. Nan's ducky gets put up on the ledge.

Before I go to sleep, I always check on them to make sure they have their loveys and are warm. How can you not forget the irritations of the day when you see this?

Miller has a special pink bear, called "Bear", which she attached herself to over a year ago.

She chose him as the one despite my efforts to make her attach herself to a very pretty bunny. Once we determined that Bear was her special lovey, we bought a backup. Things were running very smoothly and we were interchanging them, until one day, she somehow got her hands on both bears at the same time. Instead of being upset, she was delighted. However, now she must have 2 bears at bedtime. If she only has one, she will say "Nother one bear". If one gets lost in the night (which is always does) she wakes up in a panic screaming her head off.

One thing that has continued to perplex us is where all the binkies go. We are always buying them, but they always seem to disappear. We were just totally stumped as to what was going on. I could have sworn someone was stealing them. My mom thought Georgia was eating them. (she's a hungry dog, but not that hungry) We always gave her several at bedtime, and we just could not figure out where they were going.

Then, one day, I looked behind the crib....mystery solved.

Always keeping us on our toes!
