We made it....and we're celebrating

Whatever it was that Colby had, it went quickly. Thank goodness we are back to normal....for now. KNOCK ON WOOD!!!

To celebrate, Colby has been doing some dancing. These are just a few short clips, and not nearly as "all out" as he goes in music class, but it gives you an idea.

This is what I call the "squat dance". The way he's slapping his lap at the end is what we do in music class.

The very beginning of this one reminds me a little of Elaine's dance from Seinfeld.

It really stinks when you lose your balance every time you really get going.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Oh Dear God. It's back. The stomach virus is back. It was less than a month ago that Colby had it for four days.....and now, as of last night, we're certain he has it again. He sort of spit up twice yesterday morning, but we thought it was a fluke...now we know it was definitely no fluke. (This is waaay TMI, but it needs to be said. Colby actually threw up in Lee's mouth...and Lee didn't even blink an eye. If that had been me, I'm fairly certain it would have sent me to my grave.)

This month, Colby went from the stomach flu, to a never-ending cold (which he still has) to yet another stomach flu. He hasn't been to preschool in almost 3 weeks. I kept thinking he was better, and twice, I took him to school and they called me to pick him up early because of his runny nose (which I swear wasn't there in the morning). I definitely got a M.O.T.Y (mother of the year) award for that. He cannot catch a break...so therefore, neither can I.

But the stomach flu...that's my biggest fear. I begged Lee to stay home from work today, but he laughed at me. He is going in an hour late, which is at least some sort of comfort.....it's the other 9 hours I'm worried about. Heaven help me.

I loooooooves me some ketchup.

It's even good right off of your fingers.

What do you mean it has high fructose corn syrup?!!?

Oh daddy, you're so funny- of course it's good for me!

The 80s are back.....

At least at our house, they are.

Back in the day, Lee and his friends used to get together, dressed in their acid washed Guess overalls (with one shoulder unclipped).....and beat box. Yes, they were cool cats. Lee withheld his beat boxing skills from me for a long time, but he eventually let loose with them one day. Now, he knows that nothing makes me laugh harder than hearing him beat box. Imagine our surprise when he started doing it last night, and Colby started dancing! (You mean to tell me it really sounds like music???) I missed most of it, but I did manage to catch the tail end with the camcorder.

Now, this second clip is less about Colby dancing, and more to showcase Lee's beat boxing skills. I also love how Colby is looking at Lee like "What the heck are you doing dad?" As you can see, Lee is really enjoying himself. This will be taken down as soon as he discovers it, so enjoy it while you can! (He's going to kill me for this)

Valentine's Surprise

Colby and his girlfriend Jordan got together and put on a little pre-Valentine's Day show. It was pretty impressive!

Don't send a lame Valentine's Day eCard. Try JibJab Sendables!

Monkey Business

A few months ago, I joked in this post here about what I was going to buy for Colby. Yes, it was only a joke...at least I thought so.

Well, fast forward to today. I'm happily strolling down the baby isle at Target when I find this item. It's a monkey! And a backpack! And a child "harness"! All in one! And it's $9.99! Well, I just couldn't resist.

We strapped on that bad boy when we got home, and needless to say, Colby was thrilled with his new friend. He loved having cool straps on his chest, and he especially liked having a tail. He walked around for half an hour chasing his tail. (Wait a minute....is that a bad sign?)

It's great for when Colby gets into mommy's things, such as my camera bag...

Because mean ol'mommy can yank him away!

And when he's really naughty...well, this is what happens.

I'm kidding, I'm kidding.

After putting Colby down for a nap, I came back downstairs to find the monkey had been adopted. Maybe it wasn't a total waste of money after all.

Lover Boy

I can't believe I've never mentioned it before, but Colby has a girlfriend. Her name is Jordan, and they've been an item since they were 8 months old.

Here they are on their first park date

And here's their first kiss. Even back then, Colby had a way with the ladies.

We only see Jordan about once a month, but it doesn't seem to affect Colby's passionate feelings for her. I've tried to describe how Colby sometimes bursts with love and affection for other kids, but never before have I caught it on camera. Until yesterday. He was really feeling the love for Jordan.

The look on Colby's face says it all....

Although the look on Jordan's face says I'm just not that into you.

After hugging for a while, Jordan was ready for some personal space. However, Colby was not picking up on her nonverbal cues.

Let's hope that as Colby gets older, he learns to read body language a little better.

Mommy Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They had one last embrace before we left...

Jordan was a great sport, even though Colby came on a little strong. Colby's affections only made her cry about 4 times in a 3 hour period- that's pretty good!
