2 things

1. Colby idolizes his cousins, who came to visit this weekend. I believe I could get Colby to eat anything or do anything if one of his cousins did it first.

2. Miller is full on walking. Somehow, in about 2 days, she has gone from just taking a few steps to walking around the house. Colby better watch out....payback is coming.

This week

It's been a really hard week.

I can't think of the right thing to say, so I'll just keep it short.

We'll miss you, Aunt Kay. It's hard to believe this picture was taken about a month ago at the mountain house (with her daughters Erica and Lisa).

While I was away, Lee continued with the potty training. Colby started getting the hang of peeing on the potty on day 3, but refused to poop. Unfortunately, that caused some constipation problems, and when he finally did poop, it hurt him. A lot. And now, he's terrified of doing it again.

He has decided that, by sheer force of will, he will never poop again. And he has been pretty darn successful. He has a poop dance that he does when he's withholding, so it's no secret what's going on. A few more days of the poop dance landed us in the doctors office yesterday with instructions to give him an enema and some mild laxatives.

So, we've had to completely back track and lay off the potty training. We're putting him in a pullup now, and he just pees in that instead of going to the potty. We need to get him over this fear of pooping first and foremost, and then we'll worry about the fact that he's the tallest kid in preschool pooping in his pants.

Fiesty little Miller is taking more and more steps these days. (I'm calling her fiesty because she's starting to become quite opinionated about what she wants, and she lets it be known) She's not full on walking, but she does about 6-8 steps quite often.

I've posted many videos of Colby dancing, but Miller has really developed her own style....I call it the Miller shuffle. She does the same thing every time: she sits on her feet, bounces up and down, thrusts her hips forward, and hops across the floor. She'll do it over and over until she falls down, and then she'll get back up and do it some more. I only have this one short clip of her doing it, but I'm hoping to catch more of it at the concert tonight.

Operation potty training and very sad news

We started a 3 day potty training method yesterday with Colby. To say it has been a little frustrating would be an understatement. At the end of the second day, there's pee on every carpet, pee on the stairs, pee in the corner of the living room, pee in one of the air ducts, pee on the walls, and pee on me....but very little pee in the potty. Yesterday afternoon, after a VERY long 2 days, he sat on the potty for 10 minutes trying to pee, got up to wash his hands, and peed on the step stool. I just wanted to scream "COME ONE MAN!! HOW ARE YOU NOT GETTING THIS!!??" Of course, I didn't....I wiped him up, cleaned the floor, and told him we'll try again next time. Then I called Lee crying and told him I couldn't handle it anymore. Even worse than the flying pee, he has held in his poop for 2 days, and we are concerned about the ramifications of that. The boy takes (TMI!) 2 man size poops every day, and never misses a day, and yesterday he told us he had a tummy ache. Yeah, I don't doubt it. So, after a very long day, we put a diaper on him. I've never loved a diaper so much in my life. He went downstairs and pooped 6 times in it. I'm not exaggerating.

Now changing the subject...

On a very very sad note, my Aunt Kay (my mom's sister) suddenly passed away today after her body rejected a blood transfusion. She has lymphoma, but it is something that can be managed for many years, so it was very shocking. She was one of the nicest people on earth, and she never had a bad thing to say about anyone. It's just not fair that things like this happen to such good people...I'm still in shock and just cannot believe it.

I'll be flying down there in the next day or so to be with everyone. Operation potty training is being aborted for now. Maybe we'll try again in a few months.

Walked for the first time yesterday? 6 steps in a row! Just 10 days after her first birthday.

I'll give you a hint....

Colby better watch his back because revenge is gonna be SWEET.
